Detroit Male Dance Summer Intensive

Monday - Friday, July 19 - 23, 2021, 1 - 5 PM

DMDSI 2021 is a summer intensive for male dancers grades 9 - 12th with a focus on African American and BIPOC males.

"The artists chosen to teach or speak during this intensive are professionals who have achieved respect and positive notoriety in the national and international worlds of dance.  Aside from their artistic talents, these men employ their personal philosophies toward uplifting the image, self-esteem, and self-awareness of Black men.  Most of them are directly impacting the lives of young Black males through their work and all of them have ties to the dance community in Detroit." --Anthony Smith, Guest Curator

A part of Detroit Public Schools Community District's Summer Learning Experiences 2021, DMDSI offers great opportunities to grow dance technique and skill while having fun and interacting with leaders in the field.  DMDSI activities will occur Monday - Friday, July 19-23, 1 - 5 PM.  Dancers must be age 14 or a rising freshman by the first day of the program.
