Overview 


Philadanco in collaboration with Heritage Works is providing a mini tour of Endangered Species November 8 – 12, 2022. The mini-tour includes educator workshop, performances of Endangered Species, talkbacks and youth and community workshops.  Choreographed by Anthony Burrell and set on Philadanco, Endangered Species is performed by a six-member, all male cast and is an exploration of police brutality, loss, and transformation. The mini-tour includes a youth day on Wednesday, November 9 as well as workshops at Detroit schools with dance programs.  

     Date: Wednesday, November 9, 10 AM - 1:30 PM  

     Site: Detroit School of Arts, 123 Selden Avenue, Detroit MI 48201.  

     Audience:  Students Grades 7 - 12th, Young Artists Ages 13-18 with a focus on dancers, poets and visual artists

     Themes: Arts & Social Justice, Young Artists as Storytellers, and Youth-led Excellence and Transformation 

     Activities:   Endangered Species Performance with Talkbacks, and Dance Workshop(s) 

 

Heritage Works - PHILADANCO! Youth Day Schedule - Wednesday, Nov. 9, 9 AM – 1:30 PM 

[9:30 to 9:45 AM  Partner Schools Arrive, Debus.]

10:15  -11:15 AM - Endangered Species Performance and Talkback 

11:20 AM – Visiting Students Transition to Master Classes [Students not participating in master classes/dance workshops board bus and depart] 

11:30 AM - 12:50 – Dance Workshops with PHILADANCO! Principal Dancer and Guest Choreographer. 

12:50 PM - 1:30 PM – Students Board Bus and Depart or Dance studio is available as lunch space for visiting students 

[12:50 or 1:30 PM  Remaining Visiting Students Dress, Board buses, and Depart]
